I promise to get better at blogging... 01/10/2012
A friend and I have decided that we will be entering a film into the Reel Rock Film Competition this year. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it is an annual film tour that showcases some of the best short climbing films. Every year they hold an open film competition where anyone can submit their videos with the hopes of winning cash, gear, or in our case the the pride of proving that we can win such a such a contest. I studied film in college and my friend is currently studying photography and currently owns her own small photography buisness. How can we lose right?! Well that's our thinking at least. Tonight we sat down and put some ideas to paper and what we ended up creating was essentially a chaotic and imaginative jumble of ideas. It's amazing how uncreative you learn you really are when you actually need to be. Maybe this is why I took the First Ascent path rather than film? Either way, tonight was the start of what should be an exciting and adventurous project. Wish us luck! Below is the winning video from two years ago(which I did not make, unfortunately) to give you an idea of what we are aiming to acheive here.
Until next time - John

Seeing as the weather has gotten colder but the snow hasn't quite accumulated enough, I am directly between two guiding seasons right now. Things have been super slow in regards to actual guiding as of late, mostly because the weather won't cooperate and partially because it is November. Two months ago I could not wait for November to get here, I was dreaming of my own little fantasy off season! Boy was I wrong! With all the winter programs we are rolling out along with getting the rest of next summers programs organized and planned, November has somehow turned from my fantasy vacation island into a time gobbling Monster. Its not all bad though, the stuff I have been working on is pretty freaking awesome, to say the least. Among other things, today's big project for instance has been an online booking system which will hopefully roll out tonight or tomorrow! Anyways, I did manage to distract myself from work today by getting hopelessly sucked into watching the full version of the BASE jumping/ highlining video below. I should probably get back to work now though, so until next time. - John

We finally have a blog!!! That's right, this will be our new source for everything happening in the adventure world! (this means I finally have a place to post all those awesome Youtube videos floating around out there!) as well as our place to sharing any good gear deals or trips we come across that, and general day to day happenings in the First Ascent universe! We should have our real first blog post up here shortly! Also if anyone has any suggestions of what they might like to see, let us know!!! Till Tomorrow - John
